Grandma Before her Mission

Here I am with all of my grandchildren that live close by me.

This is the picture that Tracy took for my missionary picture.

More from the MTC

I loved my MTC experience.  The training was wonderful and the food was good too!
With one of my favorite trainers at the MTC, Brother Keddington at the cafeteria.

Our MTC district.  Sister Rayes (blue shirt) and Sister Griffin were my companions at the MTC.  Sister Reyes will be working in the Mission office in the Sacramento Mission.  Sister Griffin will be working in the employment office in New Orleans.
Sister Zollinger and Brother ??  ( How fast we forget names, I guess we are called seniors for a good reason!)  Two more of my favorite trainers at the Missionary Training Center.

At the MTC

At the MTC

Here I am standing in front of the famous map at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.   I am pointing to the Hawaiian Islands where I am headed.

Below, my two MTC companions are pointing to where they are headed.  Sister Reyes is going to the Sacramento Mission to help in the mission office.  Sister Griffin is going to New Orleans to work in an employment center there.

THIS IS WHERE I AM HEADED ON AUGUST 3, 2013
(I am not excited or anything!)

I found this video on You Tube.  I love the music and dancing.  I hope I can be in a parade like this, or at least go to it.  Just click on the link below.

Here is a link to the 2012 Kamehameha Day Parade.

Our NYC Vacation

Here are some pictures from our trip to NYC.
We all met there on my Birthday!

These are all my children near Time Square.
From left to right Kelly, Sandra, Julie, Mark, Laura, Tracy.

All together at the apartment we rented.  Left to right: Kelly, Laura, Julie, Sandra, Tracy and Mark.

 Our first subway ride.

A few times we actually all got a seat, other times it was standing room only!

The subway was our way to travel in NYC.

Kelly, Sandra, Mark and Laura enjoying the M&M store.  Look at those moves!

Times Square.

Here we all are taking a break and visiting on Times Square.

We found this written on the sidewalk and thought, "That applies to us."

This is where we stayed, thanks to Sandra's planning and work.
It was a few blocks north of Central Park.

Top row: Mark, me, Sandra
Bottom row: Laura, Julie, Kelly and Tracy.
Thanks to Tracy for many of these beautiful pictures, its great to have a photographer in the family!

At the Natural History Museum.

We walked through Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This beautiful stained glass window was one of my favorite things to enjoy at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Seeing Wicked was a highlight.  We all loved it!
We also enjoyed seeing Lion King, the costumes were amazing.

In Brooklyn, it was a beautiful sunny day, but a little cold.

This is the view out the back window of our apartment.  It makes me enjoy my view of Cherrington Circle and Mount Timpanogos even more.

I think that this is the one and only time that all six of my children were in a tub together.
We had the biggest tub I have ever seen!

Best Birthday ever!

Opening my Mission Call

On March 21, 2013 I received my mission call.

We are excitedly waiting until all the families get here. I am surrounded by grandchildren.
From left to right: Shelby, Cody, Ty, Darcy, Luke, Elsa, and Eli.

The following pictures were taken from a video of me opening my mission call.  I tried to load the video here but couldn't.  Tracy's, Julie's and Mark's families were here and my niece and nephew Dani and Kevin who live downstairs.  My niece Ali Shields also came.  Kelly, Sandra, Laura and my sister Heidi were listening on cell phones.

I am called to serve in the Honolulu, Hawaii Mission.

I will be a Cultural specialist at the Polynesian Cultural Center.  I don't know what that involves, but I am excited to learn!  I report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on July 29, 2013.

This is when Mark yelled out "Mom's going to be a Hula dancer!"

I dearly love the Polynesian Cultural Center, it is my favorite place in Hawaii and I can't think of any place that I would rather serve than there.  I feel very blessed.  I can even wear Muumuu's and sandals, how great is that?

Called on a Mission

I have been called to serve in Hawaii as a Cultural Specialist at the Polynesian Cultural Center.  I'm so excited!
